Up to now, in Gio Linh district, there are 42 cooperatives and cooperative groups managed by women members, creating jobs for over 900 members who are local women. To support women in developing collective economy, the association has proposed to the bank to support preferential loans; organized training courses on women starting up, starting a business, building production, business, livestock and crop models. Along with that, the association has made connections to help consume agricultural products managed by cooperatives and cooperative groups managed by women.
Established in June 2023, up to now, Van Sam Rice Starch Cooperative, Gio Son commune has been operating very effectively, creating stable jobs for 10 local workers.
Chairwoman of Gio Son Commune Women's Union Hoang Thi Lieu shared: “Previously, female members in the area mainly produced rice starch on a small scale, consumed at local markets and some neighboring areas. With the goal of linking rice flour production households to create safe products, protect the health of producers and consumers, improve production efficiency, and increase income, after its establishment, Van Sam Rice Starch Cooperative has grown in scale, invested in machinery to produce quality rice flour products, which are favored by consumers and highly appreciated by the market. In order to support the consumption of the Cooperative's products, the District Women's Union has created conditions for the Cooperative's rice starch products to participate in fairs held in the district and province. Thanks to that, more and more consumers know about the Cooperative's products. Not only consumed in the province, up to now, the Cooperative's rice flour products have been trusted and used by many domestic consumers. On average, each day, the cooperative produces 4-5 quintals of fresh rice flour for sale on the market. The timely support of the District Women's Union opens up a good opportunity for local products to be known to more consumers, contributing significantly to job creation and increasing income for members and women in the area."
“In the coming time, we will survey and research to continue to provide appropriate support for cooperatives and groups managed by women, while focusing on developing more cooperatives with occupations suitable to women's strengths and specific local characteristics.
Along with that, the association also focuses on supporting, consulting, and guiding cooperatives and cooperative groups in the area to develop production and business plans, expand membership; apply scientific and technological advances, digital transformation in production and business, register intellectual property for manufactured products, key products that are local specialties to improve productivity, quality, and competitiveness in the market," added Chairwoman of Gio Linh District Women's Union Tran Thi Long.
