Piscine Lake - dance of stone and water

If Bien Lac is a mountain lake with beautiful, romantic scenery, then in the north of our province there is another mountain lake with a scenery that makes visitors stunned. That is Piscine Lake, located in Binh An Commune, Bac Binh District.

Following the guide, we started our journey to Piscine Lake when it was almost noon. The road to the lake was no longer difficult because there were trails used by many local people. From the land called Ba Ghe, a revolutionary base of the army and people of Bac Binh during the resistance war against the US to save the country, we followed the trail along the mountainside to Piscine Lake. Although it was a mountain road, there were no steep slopes, so enjoying the mountain scenery was also an interesting experience. The winding streams along with the sound of flowing water, birds chirping, the faint scent of the forest, all blended together to give us an indescribable feeling of elation. The deeper we went, the cooler the air became, we could feel the wind blowing, the clouds drifting. There seemed to be no feeling of fatigue but a strange feeling of peace, leisure, and comfort.

After a journey of nearly 1 hour, we arrived at the foot of two mountain ranges named Chep La and Ta Bang. Before our eyes were small waterfalls winding through green mossy rocks. The rocks here are very beautiful, colorful and have strange shapes. Passing the small waterfalls, we arrived at Piscine Lake. It is a small heart-shaped lake with an area of about 100 m2 of clear, blue water. Around the lake are tiny waterfalls winding through mossy rocks.

Through our research, the name Piscine Lake was discovered and named by the French, but no one remembers the year. The name Piscine in French means swimming pool or swimming pool, and in English it is an adjective of the word Fish. This seems to fit what we are seeing and feeling here. Besides the large Piscine Lake located below, there are clusters of large and small lakes in different levels like clear waterfalls with many kinds of freshwater fish.

Piscine Lake has 2 lakes, the upper lake and the lower lake. Each lake has a different beauty, so to explore and enjoy, we have to overcome each large and small rock lying around the beautiful mossy water flow. Near Tet, on both sides of the stream, the branches of wild apricot trees have early blooming flowers, swaying yellow in the wind. Apricot flowers here are quite numerous, growing in large patches with large roots growing from the crevices of rocks. Wild apricot flowers are usually not as big as the apricot buds grown in home gardens, but the flowers bloom for a long time and the fragrance is truly more attractive. Because they grow mainly on rocky slopes next to small waterfalls, apricot flowers always bloom early. On the occasion of Lunar New Year, for those who love apricot flowers, this will be an interesting destination.

Passing the yellow apricot fields in full bloom, we will reach the upper Piscine Lake. The upper Piscine Lake is small but the scenery is much more beautiful. The shapes of the rocks and the water make this place more special and charming. Not only us but anyone who comes to this place will be amazed and moved.

Piscine Lake is located in the La Ba revolutionary base area, so during the resistance war against the US to save the country, Piscine Lake was the place chosen to organize holidays and celebrate Tet for our soldiers. After the war, Piscine Lake is still as beautiful as it was in the beginning. There are still old, barren trees showing the bumps and scars of time or crooked mango trees with large, black trunks lying on the side of thousand-year-old rocks.
