If he loses to U23 Vietnam in the final match of the 2023 Southeast Asian U23 tournament, coach Shin Tae Yong is at great risk of not winning any titles with Indonesian football and U23 Indonesia, but this strategist affirmed that he is not worried.
Coach Shin Tae Yong signed a contract with the Indonesian Football Federation (PSSI) since 2020. Although this strategist has led many Indonesian teams such as U17, U20, U23 and the national team, he has not won any titles.
The contract between coach Shin Tae Yong and PSSI ends on December 31, 2023. This means that if the two sides do not renew the contract, the 2023 Southeast Asian U23 tournament is the last chance for the Korean coach to win a title with Indonesian football.

Coach Shin Tae Yong shared at a press conference before the final match of the 2023 Southeast Asian U23 Championship against U23 Vietnam held at noon on August 25: “I am not too worried if I lose to U23 Vietnam. Not winning a title is not a big problem. The important thing is that Indonesian football is developing at all levels. Personally, I also expect to win the first title tomorrow. However, if not, it is not too big of a deal.”
Talking about the preparation of U23 Indonesia, the Korean coach said: “We have very few players with experience in the 32nd SEA Games. They are either on the bench or do not play. The majority of the U23 Indonesia squad are on the bench at domestic clubs. I do not think we have an advantage over Vietnam.”
Coach Shin Tae Yong affirmed: "We have to recalculate our personnel because of injuries and penalties, hoping everything goes smoothly. This year's U23 Indonesia team is not perfect. Even in the winning matches, we made many mistakes. Many times after the match, the team has to look back at themselves and improve."
The final match between U23 Vietnam and U23 Indonesia will take place at 8:00 p.m. on August 26 at Rayong Stadium (Thailand).
