The Vietnam Olympic team had a brilliant first half, leading 3-0 thanks to a brace from Quoc Viet and a goal from Van Khang. However, in the second half, the Vietnam Olympic team's defense made mistakes, leading to two goals conceded at the beginning and end of the half, with Nguyen Hoang scoring in between. The Vietnam Olympic team ended the match with a 4-2 victory.
Coach Hoang Anh Tuan wants his players to defend better.
“The first match is usually difficult, but when we are leading with such a gap, some players are in a loose state. That is why we conceded the goal. At the beginning or near the end of the match, mistakes are very likely to happen. Losing at such times is not good, because it can affect the result of the match. If it affects the following matches, it is worth considering. I am also very angry because we received such silly yellow cards. I have reminded the players many times before preparing for the tournament, not just in this match. What happened made me very unhappy,” said coach Hoang Anh Tuan at the press conference after the match.
Frankly expressing his feelings when evaluating the match and expressing dissatisfaction with the team's mistakes, coach Hoang Anh Tuan still gave words of encouragement to his young students. He shared: "This is a big tournament and a great opportunity for the players. You also know that the age of the Vietnamese Olympic team is the youngest in the tournament, with an average age of only 20.3 years old. Therefore, participating and competing at the Asian Games is very important for them, although everything will not be easy. I myself am very excited and want the players to clearly feel this big tournament, this great opportunity to mature more."

Before closing the press conference, Coach Hoang Anh Tuan also gave special thanks to the Vietnamese fans who came directly to Linping Stadium to cheer for the Vietnamese Olympic team. “Even though there was only one fan coming to the stadium, I still felt that they represented 100 million Vietnamese people. I was very surprised to see a group of Vietnamese fans present on the field. The whole team was very emotional,” said Coach Hoang Anh Tuan.
After the match with Olympic Mongolia, the Vietnamese Olympic team will face many more challenges when their opponents are two stronger teams - Olympic Iran on September 21 and Saudi Arabia on September 24.
