Despite being eliminated and facing great difficulties and pressure, the Vietnamese team still maintains the spirit of never giving up, determined to make a beautiful mark in the final match of the 2023 Asian Cup.

Coach Troussier believes the team will achieve good results in the match against Iraq.

Coach Troussier said: “The match against Iraq is a good opportunity for the Vietnamese team to prepare for the next two matches against Indonesia. Although they lost the two matches against Japan and Indonesia, for me, the players have made progress and matured in daring to play football and not being afraid. We have two motivations to do our best tomorrow. Firstly, the team must maintain the spirit of national pride and honor when playing on the continental stage. Secondly, I see tomorrow's match against Iraq as a foundation for the team to prepare for the next two matches in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, both against Indonesia next March.”

The French strategist affirmed that although the Vietnamese team did not achieve the results that fans expected, the players played to their best ability, so they did not deserve criticism. “I understand the feelings of the media and fans. I take responsibility for the results of the match, even for individual mistakes like the penalty. However, I cannot accept criticism aimed at the players, because they tried their best,” coach Troussier expressed.

Answering an Iraqi reporter's question about the Vietnamese team's farewell to the 2023 Asian Cup, Coach Troussier said: "We can only return home with our heads held high when we defeat your team. Only then will my players feel comfortable packing their bags to return home. We want to protect the team's image. With what we have shown, with the praise of the continental press, I believe we can do it."

Finally, coach Troussier hopes that the Vietnamese team will achieve good results in tomorrow night's match: "Hopefully tomorrow the Vietnamese team will play well, create a good image even if we lose the match so that everyone can see that we have a future ahead."
