However, they are not suitable for the Korean and Vietnamese teams at the present time, so they are not successful.

After parting ways with the above coaches, both the Korean and Vietnamese teams faced the difficult problem of finding replacements, based on the criteria of both being good at their profession and understanding the culture and football of the host country.

What did coach Philippe Troussier leave for Vietnamese football?

The Korean national team, in the early days after firing coach Klinsmann, was eager to find a new coach to sign a long-term contract. However, after a short period of consideration, the Korea Football Association (KFA) realized that if they hastily appointed a new coach with a long-term contract, it would be very risky, both professionally and financially.

That is the reason why the Korean team chose interim coach Hwang Sun-hong to lead the "Asian Tigers" in the World Cup qualifiers taking place this March (1 win 3-0 and 1 draw 1-1 with the same opponent Thailand).

These matches are both to test the ability of coach Hwang Sun-hong and to evaluate whether the option of returning to a domestic coach for the Korean team is appropriate or not? After a long time, the Korean team has followed the policy of using foreign coaches.

The interim domestic coach leading the Korean team must also be someone with a reputation and who has had success in the past at different levels. For example, coach Hwang Sun-hong won the K-League 1 (Korean national championship) with Pohang Steelers Club and won the U.23 Asian Championship with the Korean U.23 team.

Finding a person to sit in the head coach position of the national team is of course very important, but considering the candidate's professional capacity, reputation and understanding of Vietnamese football is equally important.

If we miscalculate again, the Vietnam team's performance crisis will continue, leading to a crisis of confidence among fans and the Vietnamese football community. In particular, if we miscalculate again, financial losses will occur again to Vietnamese football.

For now, VFF has appointed coach Hoang Anh Tuan to lead the Vietnam U.23 team in the final round of the U.23 Asian Cup, which will take place from mid-April this year. Previously, Mr. Troussier concurrently led the U.23 team and the national team.
