Thanh Hoa FC's opponent in the opening match of Group A is Shan United FC from Myanmar. As someone who spent time working with Myanmar football before coming to Vietnam to coach the V-League, Coach Popov is excited to have the opportunity to meet again the players he knows and understands very well. The Bulgarian coach also frankly admitted that Thanh Hoa FC, although playing at home, will face many difficulties. "In fact, we are at a disadvantage because we are in the process of focusing on improving our physical strength to prepare for the V-League. Meanwhile, Shan United has the advantage because their national championship has taken place and the players are in better playing condition. However, we will try our best to get the best results," Coach Popov assessed.

Attending the press conference with head coach Popov, midfielder Le Quoc Phuong expressed his excitement at returning to the international arena after many years of absence. "Although we are in the stage of physical and tactical preparation, we will always play according to the coach's philosophy and contribute with beautiful play, carrying the desire to win. This is the first match at home, opening the new season, so the team's spirit is very good," Quoc Phuong shared.
On the other side of the front line, Shan United coach Myo Hlaing Win said that the match against Thanh Hoa will be a difficult match for the Myanmar champions. "They have good players, and their head coach, Mr. Popov, is experienced and very knowledgeable about Myanmar football. I don't want to make any predictions about the results because football is unpredictable. We will focus on our work and hope for good results," said coach Myo Hlaing Win.
