Speaking after the match where U23 Vietnam lost 0-4 to U23 UAE, coach Philippe Troussier said: “Regarding the result, U23 Vietnam lost. But as I shared, the goal that U23 Vietnam aimed for when participating in this tournament was the step-by-step progress of the players. With what happened in the match against U23 UAE, I can say that I am satisfied. The students made a lot of effort, even when losing 0-4 to U23 UAE. The team has tested the structure in the squad, the operation of tactics, determination, fighting spirit and organization in the match. For me, U23 Vietnam is gradually improving. Remember, the level of U23 UAE is higher than U23 Vietnam. They are a big challenge for us.”

In addition, coach Philippe Troussier also expressed regret when U23 Vietnam lost 4 goals. “I think we did not deserve to lose like that. The team's physical strength decreased in the second half, which was the reason why U23 Vietnam conceded many goals. It was not easy for the players to maintain the quality of play under pressure from the opponent. However, I am still satisfied. I told the players that the real result is not in the scoreboard but in the ideas and attitude of playing. U23 Vietnam has shown a good foundation to gradually improve,” the French coach added.

When talking about the future of U23 Vietnam, coach Philippe Troussier still has great confidence in his players. He analyzed: “U23 Vietnam is working, trying, and practicing hard. The team is preparing for the 32nd SEA Games . I want to convey to the players the desire and fighting spirit. I want them to have more realistic situations playing football like what they tried to create against U23 UAE. The players played very well in the first half. From this first half, I want them to maintain their confidence. Once again, I would like to emphasize the level of U23 UAE. They are in the top 6 strongest teams in Asia. But we also showed that we can gradually narrow the gap in level. Matches like this prove to me that U23 Vietnam can do it in the near future.”

According to the regulations of the 2023 U23 International Cup-Qatar, the teams will be paired to compete in the third round, based on the results after the first two rounds. Considering the current situation, the opponent of U23 Vietnam could be one of the following teams: U23 Qatar, U23 Saudi Arabia, U23 Kyrgyzstan or U23 Oman.
