Will coach Park Hang-seo lead the Malaysian national team?

Following the departure of coach Kim Pan-gon last month, the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) is searching for a new head coach for the 2024 AFF Cup, with Park Hang-seo being one of the candidates. This information has been confirmed by FAM, along with the fact that Mr. Park has submitted his application to lead the team nicknamed Harimau Malaya (Malaysian Tigers). This is not the first time Coach Park Hang-seo has been linked with the Malaysian national team. Previously, in mid-July, Coach Kim Pan-gon had an amicable parting of ways, citing personal health reasons, but FAM later discovered that he had returned to South Korea to negotiate with Ulsan Hyundai Motors.
Coach Park will lead the Malaysian team against the Vietnamese team.
INDEPENDENCE
Since leaving the Vietnamese national team, Coach Park Hang-seo has not coached any other team, only serving as an advisor for Bac Ninh FC, which plays in the national second division. From 2022 to the present, there have been many reports linking him with several teams, including Malaysia and China, but these have remained mere rumors. The "dishonest" departure of Kim Pan-gon may affect the FAM's goodwill towards Korean coaches; however, FAM President Hamidin Mohd Amin frankly admitted that Kim had achieved good results, helping the Malaysian national team climb from 158th to 134th in the FIFA rankings.
