Despite trying very hard, the Vietnamese women's team could not surprise Japan when they suffered a 0-2 defeat and stopped in the second qualifying round of the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Evaluating the match, coach Mai Duc Chung said: "Although we could not win, what the players showed on the field somewhat satisfied me with the team's spirit. Before that, we were afraid of the scenario of a breakdown and loss to the top Asian opponent.
We lost 0-7 to Japan at the 19th Asian Games. But this time the score was only 0-2. I think that was a success and the determination of the whole team! I personally want to thank the whole team for their dedication and good performance."

"In terms of skill level, we are at a disadvantage compared to the Japanese women's team. But in today's match, the players showed great determination. We lost, but this is an acceptable score.
After this match, the team will say goodbye to the tournament. The Vietnamese women's team wishes the remaining teams good matches in the next round," coach Mai Duc Chung shared.
In Uzbekistan, the Vietnamese women's team always receives cheers from fans. This could also be the last tournament as head coach, so coach Mai Duc Chung did not forget to thank the fans.
"I thank the overseas Vietnamese who came to watch and support us today. On behalf of the whole team, I would like to thank the fans and the media who have always accompanied and stood side by side with the Vietnamese women's team throughout the past journey," Coach Mai Duc Chung concluded.
According to plan, the Vietnamese women's team will take a flight from Uzbekistan to Vietnam on the evening of November 3, landing at Noi Bai airport (Hanoi) at 1:30 p.m. on November 4.
