Explaining the choice of the upcoming overseas training location in the Czech Republic, coach Mai Duc Chung said: “Eight years ago, the Vietnamese women's team also had a quality training trip here as well as a diverse training group. In the upcoming trip to the Czech Republic, the team aims to compete with strong opponents in Europe.”
“I want the newly called-up young players to integrate well on this occasion. This is really necessary and needs to get into the groove right now. Next year, the Vietnamese women's team will compete in the Southeast Asian Women's Championship and the SEA Games. And to prepare for the rejuvenation process, right now, I have called up 44-45% of the young players for the team,” coach Mai Duc Chung added.
The newly called-up names such as Nguyen Thi Kim Yen, Nguyen Thi Thuy Linh, Luu Nhu Quynh and Ta Thi Thuy are all players born between 2002 and 2006. The youngest player is Nguyen Thi Thuy Linh (2006) of Ho Chi Minh City Club, promoted from the U20 women's team.
Coach Mai Duc Chung said: “I hope that from now until the SEA Games at the end of next year, the young players will catch up to keep up with their seniors. Training the next generation of young players is also the policy of Vietnam’s youth football training centers and clubs. Recently, many teams have trained players from the age of 8 instead of 12-13 as before.”
According to the plan, the Vietnamese women's team will have two friendly matches on September 4 and September 11, with two quality "blue troops" from Germany and Prague.
