After the team arrived in Japan, coach Hoang Anh Tuan said: "The strengths of the Vietnamese U17 players are their spirit and determination. For me, the important thing is that the young players show their full potential in the coming days."
He added: "The reason I want my players to show their current abilities to the fullest is because only then can we fully appreciate their potential and aim for future goals.
Don't forget that the U17 to U19 generation is the foundation for the long-term goals of Vietnamese football."
Currently, Mr. Tuan has not commented much on the specific goals of the Vietnam U17 team at the U17 Asian Cup, which will open in mid-June in Thailand. At this age, achievements may not be as important as discovering the potential for the future of the players themselves.
At this year's U17 Asian Cup, U17 Vietnam is in Group D with Japan, India and Uzbekistan. This is considered a difficult group for coach Hoang Anh Tuan's team.
According to the plan, the Vietnam U17 team will have 4 practice matches in the coming days in Japan, including: Meeting Kaisenkan High School on May 25, meeting U18 Honda FC on May 28, Tokoha University on May 31 and meeting Shizuoka University on June 2.
Then, on June 5, the team will return home and train in Ba Ria-Vung Tau for about a week, before going to Thailand to participate in the Asian tournament.
Vietnam U17 will have their opening match at the U17 Asian tournament, against India on June 17.
