Highlight Spain beat Georgia 4-1
Spain successfully came back from behind to Georgia after a Robin Le Normand own goal in the 18th minute. Four goals scored in the 39th, 51st, 75th and 83rd minutes helped Spain to an excellent ticket to the quarter-finals. Coach De La Fuente was full of praise for his players for their effective performance.
"I think we controlled the game all the time by playing excellent football against an opponent who defended and counter-attacked very well. The players had an effective performance.
We need to appreciate the importance of this victory, because our opponents are a really strong team," said the Spain coach.
The superiority of the Spanish team was shown by the fact that this team had possession of the ball for 76% of the match and launched 35 shots towards the opponent's goal. Meanwhile, the Georgian players only had 4 shots and did not pose a threat to Unai Simon's goal.
"We knew that Georgia's danger came from transition and counter-attacks, but they didn't have any shots on target. Of course, when they took the lead, we were a bit nervous but we created a lot of chances after that and the result could have been 8-1," coach De La Fuente shared.

After "crushing" Georgia in the round of 16, Spain will face host Germany in the quarter-finals of Euro 2024. Coach De La Fuente is confident in Spain's squad and highly appreciates the strength of the German team.
"We have a lot of confidence and a talented, quality squad. Germany are a fantastic team, they have some of the best players in the world and they play very organised, very disciplined football. But they will face a Spain side that is determined, very well organised, and has a lot of ambition.
I know there are many factors that go into a victory, but I hope my players will maintain their form in the next match," said coach De La Fuente.
The quarter-final match between Spain and Germany will take place at 11:00 p.m. on July 5 at Stuttgart Arena (Germany).
