Binh Duong Club coach changes decision to resign after 24 hours

On the evening of April 19, Coach Nguyen Cong Manh resigned at a press conference after Binh Duong Club's loss in round 19 of V-League 2024-2025. He made the decision suddenly and without asking for permission from the leadership.

The 0-3 loss to the championship-contending team hurt the Nghe An coach's pride. "I have pride. If I can't do it, I should quit. I've talked to the leaders and I'm ashamed of this loss," Coach Cong Manh said in the meeting room.

On the evening of April 20, when talking to Tuoi Tre Online , Coach Cong Manh changed his decision. He agreed to stay to continue with Binh Duong Club to play the rest of the V-League and the National Cup semi-final.

"Last night, I lay awake thinking until 5am. Many players texted me. In the morning, the team leaders had a meeting and hoped I would stay on because it's hard to find a new person right now," he said.

V-League 2024-2025 has 7 more rounds to finish. Binh Duong Club is ranked 7th with 25 points. 25 points is a safe score to stay in the league, 9 points away from the danger zone.

Taking over the club from round 10 of V-League 2024 - 2025, coach Cong Manh earned 14 points after 10 matches for Binh Duong. He is also the 7th coach to lead the team in the past 5 years.

Before being promoted to head coach, Cong Manh was assistant coach to coach Hoang Anh Tuan. Mr. Tuan played 9 rounds and had 11 points before leaving with his team for "personal reasons".
