(NLDO) - Ho Chi Minh City will have about 150 electric buses serving 17 new routes connecting to metro line 1.

On the afternoon of December 17, more than 80 electric buses were present at the parking lot behind Anh Phat Petro gas station, ready for operation to connect to metro line 1.

The vehicles are undergoing final touches such as decals, signage, exterior decoration and rearview mirror installation. At the same time, 15 charging stations with a capacity of 180 kWh and 240 kWh have been installed in this area, allowing charging from 20% to 100% of battery capacity in about 1 hour and 40 minutes.

In addition to the vehicles already present, about 60 other electric buses are being transported from Hue to Ho Chi Minh City to serve 17 new routes, bringing the total number of electric buses to about 150. These routes will be operated from December 20, two days before the official operation of Metro Line 1.

Not only stopping at 17 new routes, Ho Chi Minh City also connects 44 existing bus routes with Metro Line 1, bringing the total number of connecting routes to 61. The new bus system is designed to stand out with stylized blue and yellow colors, with LED panels displaying the route number and name on the front and back of the bus.

The highlight of the electric bus is that it uses clean energy, is equipped with amenities such as wifi, air conditioning, electronic boards displaying routes and spaces that are friendly to the disabled. The electric bus routes are expected to bring a seamless travel experience, saving time and costs for people.

The new bus routes play an important "branch" role, connecting residential areas to the city center and metro stations, helping to reduce traffic pressure and environmental pollution.

With the synchronization of electric buses and metro, Ho Chi Minh City is getting closer to the goal of building a modern, efficient and sustainable public transport system.
