On June 25, the aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan, along with two escort cruisers, USS Antietam - CG 54 and USS Robert Smalls - CG 62, arrived at Tien Sa port, beginning a visit to Da Nang city.
At Tien Sa port, Mr. Ho Ky Minh, Vice Chairman of Da Nang City presided over the welcoming ceremony. Attending were representatives of the Ministry of National Defense, the city's Department of Foreign Affairs and a number of agencies. On the US side, there were the Ambassador, defense attaché and a number of officials from the US Embassy in Vietnam.
During their 5-day stay in Da Nang (from June 25 to 30), the US Navy delegation will pay courtesy visits to the leaders of the City People's Committee and the Naval Region 3 Command; groups of officers and sailors will participate in a number of community activities such as cultural exchanges, sports, cuisine, and visits to children at the Village of Hope and the Hoa Mai Orphanage.
This is the third time Vietnam has welcomed a US aircraft carrier. The visit to Da Nang is part of activities to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Partnership (2013-2023).
