TPO - The T3 terminal project at Tan Son Nhat International Airport has now reached 70% of the total volume. The Project Management Board said there are about 200 days left to "sprint" to put the project into operation and exploitation on April 30, 2025.
In mid-September 2024, it rained continuously in Ho Chi Minh City, but at the construction site of the T3 terminal project - Tan Son Nhat International Airport, about 2,500 workers and engineers were still working day and night "3 shifts, 4 shifts" to put the project into operation on April 30, 2025.
According to Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV, the investor), currently in the rough concrete structure part, the main items such as passenger terminal, multi-storey parking garage combined with non-aviation services, electromechanical building, aircraft parking lot... are all over 85% complete, with some items 100% complete.
In terms of architectural finishing, the steel roof structure has completed 7,500 tons (100%); the aluminum roof with a total volume of 60,000m2 has been 100% completed, and the glass curtain wall is expected to be completed on December 22 this year.
The station's stone floor is also expected to be completed on December 22. The ceiling construction will begin on September 15, 2024 and is expected to be completed on January 29, 2025.
Electromechanical systems, elevators, escalators, bridge bridges, and baggage conveyors have all been completed or are in the final stages.
Mr. Le Khac Hong, Head of the T3 Terminal Project Management Board, said that after more than a year of construction of package No. 12 (construction and installation of equipment for T3 Terminal), the concrete part of the terminal body has been completed since April 30, and the iron structure of the terminal reached 100% volume on September 2, shortening the progress by 2 months. This is a prerequisite to continue shortening the progress of other items.
"The overall progress of the project has reached 70% of the workload and will be completed on March 30, 2025. To inaugurate the project on April 30, 2025, the project must be completed 1 month earlier, meaning there are only 200 days left to complete the project. In the coming time, we will continue to thoroughly implement the Prime Minister's directive for key projects, which is "overcoming the sun and rain, eating and sleeping quickly, working in 3 shifts, working through holidays, Tet, and days off, and only discussing work and not backtracking" - Mr. Le Khac Hong said.
According to the Project Management Board, the investor and contractors have continuously launched competitions to ensure progress. After two successful competitions, on September 17, the investor decided to continue launching the third competition "90 days and nights to complete the entire station roof, facade and power the project".
This competition mainly focuses on completing items such as the entire station roof and auxiliary works; completing all the building's facade glass, floor tiling work...
2,500 workers and engineers are working day and night with the spirit of "overcoming the sun and rain", working "3 shifts, 4 shifts" to put the T3 terminal into operation on April 30, 2025.
