Energy bursts and coronal mass ejections from the Sun make the aurora borealis visible further south than usual.
According to the Space Weather Prediction Center (USA), this solar storm is not expected to be as intense as the one that occurred in May, but it could still disrupt communications, power grids, and satellite operations.
Even when the aurora borealis isn't clearly visible, night sky photographs can still capture colors invisible to the naked eye.
