About 100,000 trees on both sides of the Cau Gie - Ninh Binh highway are being cut down, causing many people to feel regretful.
The rows of trees along the Phap Van - Cau Gie Expressway (50 km long) are considered "green lungs", not only creating pleasant shade for road users but also acting as a "soundproof wall" to block noise and dust for surrounding houses.
This is one of the few highways with rows of trees planted on both sides of the road, but they are currently being cut down, causing many people to regret.
According to the Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC), cutting down acacia trees along both sides of the highway is mandatory to overcome existing problems as required by competent authorities.
In addition, in 2024, VEC will invest in expanding the Cau Gie - Ninh Binh expressway from Dai Xuyen intersection to Liem Tuyen from 4 lanes to 6 lanes. Therefore, cutting down trees along the expressway is necessary to prepare the construction site for phase 2 of the Cau Gie - Ninh Binh expressway project.
Mr. Tran Hung Ha, Director of Road Management Area 1 (Vietnam Road Administration) said that during the exploitation process, the unit requested VEC to regularly check to prevent falling trees from causing traffic safety; at the same time, trees must be cut down on curved sections of the road.
