Mr. Do Dang Bao Linh, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Dong Nai province, said that the Department has just directed educational units to strictly implement regulations on fee collection to ensure the rights of students and parents.

To avoid overcharging, the Department requires public schools to publicly and transparently disclose mandatory and voluntary fees so that parents and students can choose appropriate contributions.

At the same time, the Department also requested school principals to carefully review the current collection, as well as eliminate over-collection and adjust the remaining expenses to comply with regulations.

Mr. Linh emphasized that if there is any situation of improper revenue and expenditure in their units, the school principals must take direct responsibility to the Department.

In addition, he also suggested that educational institutions should spread out the time for collecting fees, not concentrating these payments at one time at the beginning of the school year. It is necessary to calculate and divide the collection time reasonably during the school year to help reduce financial pressure on parents.

For non-public educational institutions, the Department requires school leaders to report to investors and school boards to ensure sufficient funding for investment and upgrading of facilities and equipment, and schools must comply with the Department's instructions on school revenues and student support policies in the 2024-2025 school year.

As VietNamNet reported, in September, some parents of Hong Bang Primary, Secondary and High School (Xuan Loc District, Dong Nai) were upset about the "TV maintenance" fee of VND100,000/student, even though the school had just replaced the TV with a new 65-inch one this school year.

Upon receiving the feedback, the Department worked with the school and adjusted the fees according to regulations. After that, the school stopped collecting the above fees in the 2024-2025 school year.
