In fact, many roads in this locality are blocked due to landslides and rockslides. Meanwhile, houses and properties of many households have also been swept away by floodwaters.
Statistics as of the morning of August 6, the flood swept away a man born in 1990 in Na Lech village, Chieng Lao commune (his body has been found).
The floods also caused 8 houses in Chieng Hoa and Chieng Lao communes to collapse completely; 28 houses in Chieng Muon, Nam Pam, Ta Bu, Pi Toong, Hua Trai, Nam Gion communes and It Ong town, Muong La district suffered landslides and rocks rolling into their houses, requiring urgent evacuation.
Regarding traffic, in addition to many inter-village roads being blocked, the section of National Highway 279D from Muong La district to Lai Chau province was also completely blocked due to many landslides; in which, at the location from Km32+300 to Km32+600 (the section through Huoi Quang hydropower plant), there was a landslide, washing away the entire road surface.
In addition to Muong La, floods also caused damage in Mai Son, Song Ma, Sop Cop districts... In particular, in Song Ma district, the foot of the new bridge across the Ma River in the district town was eroded by water and is at risk of landslides; in Mai Son district, nearly 3 hectares of vegetables along Nam Pan stream were flooded due to rising water.
