Since returning to the domestic art scene, possessing an expressive soprano voice, Hien Nguyen Soprano has shown her focus in exploiting her strengths through meticulousness and investment in creating products with a fusion of classical and classical characteristics. She has enthusiastically entered the competition with two MVs, "Lavie En Rose" (2019) and "Thank God It's Friday" (2020); Pop-ified opera through the bilingual album "Love & Dream"; sang classical music in a jazz style through the Concert "Love" Live in studio "Rhythm Trip"...
With the concert "La Passione" taking place on the evening of March 1, Hien Nguyen Soprano said she will sing classic songs of the world and Vietnamese lyrical songs. In particular, Hien Nguyen Soprano will try singing live for the first time with her teacher - international pianist and Professor Gianni Kriscak.
Hien Nguyen Soprano shared, "It was both a great honor, but also a challenge in my performing career."
The program consists of two parts: classical and semi-classical vocal music with 16 songs. Vietnamese love songs performed in the program include works such as “Lullaby of Winter” (Dang Huu Phuc), “Dream of the City at Night” (Viet Anh), “Spring Melody” (Cao Viet Bach), “Stageland Love Story” (Tran Tien)…
"What I want to do with music is how to tell a new story from music to images, and how to do it in a new way, spreading the love of classical music to everyone," Hien Nguyen Soprano shared, adding: "Returning from Italy, I realized that classical music is still "picky" with domestic audiences. From the foundation of music theory and vocal techniques I learned, I have a will to change, diversify classical singing styles, and reach a new audience.
In that effort, I want my audience to gradually shape Hien Nguyen Soprano as a portrait of a female performing artist with personality, passion, and focus on semi-classical style, contributing to the overall development of classical music in Vietnam."
Before the concert “La Passione” took place, the book “History of Italian Opera” edited by Professor Gianni Kriscak and written by Hien Nguyen Soprano (a PhD student at the Central University of Art Education) and Trinh Thi Oanh (vocal lecturer at the Central University of Art Education) was released.
The book is nearly 200 pages long. Through the book, the authors give brief but comprehensive explanations of what happened in society, political developments, the role of theater in Italian society. Some of this information describes the situation before the birth of opera and the development of this genre.
In fact, there have been many books written about opera in the world, but the research book "History of Italian Opera" is a rare work written in Vietnamese.
“I thought of writing a book for people who are new to opera culture. Many Asian musicians think that opera means singing and only singing. That is of course completely wrong. Opera was born in Italy, not Germany, France or Russia,” said Gianni Kriscak.
Speaking more about her passionate project, Hien Nguyen Soprano expressed: “What I want is a new way of telling, spreading the love of classical music to everyone. Returning from Italy, I realized that classical music is still not popular with domestic audiences. From the foundation of music theory and vocal techniques I learned, I have the will to change, diversify classical singing styles, and reach new audiences.”
It is known that this is only volume 1 of a series expected to include many volumes. The next volumes will be released by the group of authors in the near future.
