At this time, in Vinh city (Nghe An), along V.Le Nin avenue, 72m road... many gardeners have imported hundreds of ancient peach trees to serve the Tet market.

Some retailers said that this year the shopping market is somewhat quieter. Although goods have been gathered for a whole week, they have only been sold sporadically or rented out in small quantities, less than 50% of last year.

Along the "flower street" of V.Le Nin Avenue, the hundred-year-old peach tree sold by Mr. Pham Van Minh (born in 1987, residing in Vinh city) attracts the attention of passersby when decorated with miniature landscapes, rockery... looking very elaborate.

“This peach tree is over a hundred years old, about 3m high, I want to sell it for 300 million VND, if I rent it out during Tet, the price will be 150 million VND. Two days ago, someone offered 120 million VND to rent it but I have not agreed yet,” said Mr. Minh.

According to Mr. Minh, to evaluate the value of a peach tree, it is necessary to rely on many factors such as the age of the tree, the rough trunk, the size of the root, the shape of the tree...

In addition to the selling point on V.Le Nin Avenue, Mr. Minh also sells at 2 other points on 72m street with hundreds of beautiful ancient peach trees.

The owner of Ngoc Thang garden (Vinh city) shared that this year, due to the impact of floods in the northern provinces, the price of ornamental plants, including peach trees, has increased. However, when imported for sale, the price remains the same as every year.

“This year the economy is difficult, people's income has decreased so purchasing power has also decreased significantly...”, this garden owner shared.

Peach traders say that compared to other ornamental plants such as kumquat, grapefruit, apricot... Tet peaches are imported the latest. The reason is that if imported early, the flowers will bloom early in hot weather and lose their value.

At this time, some agencies, units and businesses have come to buy or rent peach blossoms to display on Tet. According to traders' predictions, people will only start shopping more after the 20th of the 12th lunar month.
