Revealing the expected location of Hoa Phat's high-speed railway rail production

It is expected that the Hoa Phat Group's steel production and metallurgy factory in Hoa Tam Industrial Park in Nam Phu Yen Economic Zone will produce high-speed railway rails with a length of 50-100 m.

This is one of the notable information in the document of Phu Yen Provincial People's Committee sent to the Ministry of Transport to request the policy of connecting the railway line from Bai Goc port and the North-South national railway line.

It is known that this railway line, about 12 km long, was proposed by Hoa Phat Group to invest in connecting the metallurgical and steel production plant of this unit in Hoa Tam Industrial Park in Nam Phu Yen Economic Zone with the North-South railway line to transport large volumes of goods at reasonable logistics costs.

It is expected that this factory will have high-speed rail steel products with common sizes from 50m - 100m, transported by rail instead of by road to the construction site.

According to experts, with the common length of each high-speed rail being 100 m, transporting them from the production site in Vietnam or from seaports (in case of import) to construction sites stretching from North to South will be a big logistics problem. The super-long size of the rails will not be suitable for transport by road.

According to the Pre-Feasibility Study Report of the North-South High-Speed ​​Railway Investment Project invested by the Ministry of Transport, the North-South high-speed railway passes through 20 provinces and cities with a length of about 1,541 km. If all the rails are 100 m long, the North-South high-speed railway needs about 15,410 bars.

The railway steel market will increase significantly because in the period of 2024 - 2035, Vietnam will also upgrade the Thong Nhat railway line, the Ho Chi Minh City - Can Tho railway line, 3 railway lines connecting with China, and build 580 km of urban railway in Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City in the period of 2025 - 2035 with a total investment capital of up to nearly 150 billion USD.

Because the construction progress of the high-speed railway on the North-South axis is carried out within 10 years (2024 - 2035), not only Hoa Phat but also any domestic mechanical enterprise needs to speed up the preparation progress, including factory construction, technology transfer, trial production, mass production to meet technical standards with stable and reliable quality. Avoid the situation where the project has just started production but the construction phase has ended, causing investment waste.

Currently, the market capacity of steel rails in Vietnam is about less than 1,000 bars with a length of 12.5 m - 25 m to replace and maintain the existing North - South railway line.
