Last year, his two pots of mutant orchids were awarded a certificate by the Vietnam Record Organization as the largest pair of 5-petal white orchids of Hung King's Land in Vietnam.

In the orchid growing community in Vietnam, no one is unfamiliar with the name Chinh Truong orchid garden, built by Mr. Truong Quoc Chinh (from Phu Tho), born in 1984.

When the price of mutated orchids was skyrocketing a few years ago, customers flocked to his orchid garden.

Mr. Chinh did not disclose the profits he earned, but he was involved in many transactions of buying and selling mutant orchids worth several billion to hundreds of billions of VND.

These days, Mr. Chinh is busy with the staff of Chinh Truong orchid garden preparing for the national orchid art exhibition event on the occasion of Hung King's death anniversary and Hung Temple Festival 2025, with the theme "Vietnamese orchids - color, fragrance, Truthfulness - Goodness - Beauty".

Talking to Dan Viet reporter, Mr. Chinh said that his orchid garden has now moved to Phu Cuong commune (Ba Vi, Hanoi ), with an area of about 1,000m2 with tens of thousands of plants. In particular, Mr. Chinh has a special love for native wild orchid varieties and mutated Dendrobium orchids.

Just counting the Dendrobium orchid line, Mr. Chinh owns about 200 different varieties, including some endemic orchid species, only found in Vietnam such as the 5-petal white mutant Dendrobium orchid of Phu Tho, purple Dendrobium orchid, Son Hong snow Dendrobium orchid...

Mr. Chinh said that Vietnam has countless different orchid species, including wild orchids, and Vietnamese people love orchids very much. He himself has a special passion for the Dendrobium orchid. This flower has a soft shape, regal beauty, and is not difficult to care for.

Among them, the first mutant white 5-petal orchid flower of Vietnam was discovered in Tam Nong (Phu Tho) about 50 years ago, with the name of pagoda rice tree, village rice tree, later it was named Phu Tho white 5-petal orchid, or 5 white petals of Hung Vuong Ancestral Land.

It can be said that the 5 white petals of Hung Vuong Land is the first mutant orchid species in Vietnam.

According to orchid enthusiasts, especially wild orchid enthusiasts, this flower has an elegant white color like jade, the petals have a high peak, stretch straight, the tips of the petals are slightly curved, the two shoulder petals are horizontal, and arranged evenly.

Inside, the flower lip is heart-shaped, with velvet snow on the lip and two prominent purple eyes. In particular, the flower has a light fragrance, so orchid players consider this a species of orchid with harmonious beauty, loved by many people.

"In 2018, I bought a mutant orchid named Butterfly Dai Ngan in Son La for 1 billion VND. It was the first mutant orchid of the butterfly orchid line to set a billion-dollar value in Vietnam," said Mr. Chinh.

By the early 2020s, Mr. Chinh continuously caused a stir in the orchid community nationwide when he announced transactions worth from several billion to tens of billions of VND for rare mutant orchid pots.

Specifically, in July 2020, Mr. Chinh sold the first kei lan (orchid sprout) growing from a pot of the Butterfly Dai Ngan mutant orchid for 15 billion VND, followed by many other transactions worth several billion to tens of billions of VND.

Notably, also in 2020, the owner of Chinh Truong orchid garden successfully auctioned 1 kie for 11.7 billion VND and Mr. Chinh donated all of this money to support the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.

"At that time, the trend of playing with mutated orchids was hot, many people said that I used tricks to inflate prices to become famous, but those who are passionate about ornamental plants all know that when a flower or ornamental plant product is raised to the level of art, creating a work of special meaning, the value of that product will also be increased many times compared to the original crude work" - Mr. Chinh shared.

Accordingly, Mr. Chinh researched and experimented to make the orchids bloom at the right time as desired, and at the same time grafted orchid branches onto driftwood to create works of artistic value.

He is also one of the orchid garden owners who boldly organizes orchid exhibitions and performances according to themes to honor the beauty of this precious flower...

"The Dendrobium orchids usually bloom around June, but I have researched and changed the care regimen so that the flowers can bloom right on the occasion of Lunar New Year or the anniversary of the death of the ancestors. Thanks to that, every year I bring to the market several thousand orchid pots that bloom right on Tet so that flower lovers can enjoy them, with prices ranging from a few million to a few tens of million VND/pot" - Mr. Chinh confided.

On the occasion of the Hung Kings' death anniversary last year, Mr. Chinh displayed a pair of 5-petal white orchid works of the Hung Kings' Land with the theme "Con Lac - Chau Hong" at the Hung Kings Temple Festival and the Culture - Tourism Week of the Land of the Hung Kings. Many people present at the festival expressed their delight at seeing with their own eyes the "giant" mutant orchid work grafted from many stems. Many tourists even jostled to take photos next to the "giant" orchid pots blooming white and fragrantly.

Mr. Chinh said that this pair of mutant orchids is worth about 400 - 500 million VND. The company's artisans and gardeners prepared and took care of them for more than 2 years before selecting 198 beautiful flower stems that met the standards to be grafted into pots.

Accordingly, each pot has 99 flower stems, meaning "99 elephants turning their heads to pay homage to Nghia Linh". The work has been awarded a Certificate by the Vietnam Record Organization as the largest pair of 5-petal white orchids of Hung King's Land in Vietnam.

"This will be a special project that Chinh Truong Orchid Joint Stock Company is carrying out to celebrate the inauguration of Den Gieng Lake. Each orchid pot will have 180 flower stems, based on the meaning of the 18 Hung Kings" - Mr. Chinh revealed.

According to Mr. Chinh, the display and introduction of "giant" mutant orchid pots aims to express the desire to introduce and promote the unique beauty of Phu Tho white 5-petal orchids to tourists near and far.

"We have worked hard to create orchid works that are not only large in quantity, but also choose the most beautiful flower stems with the most flowers, like a symbol, a unique cultural feature of the homeland to offer to King Hung" - Mr. Chinh said.
