Some developments related to the Russia-Ukraine war:
Remaining EU resources to help Ukraine revealed
Military expert Anatoly Matviychuk believes that the European Union (EU) will have enough resources to help Ukraine for a maximum of one or two years, after which many countries will begin to block decisions to support Kiev.
According to the expert, the protest movement has already begun. He reiterated that the EU is a union that lives on the contributions of its member states.
“ I believe that the expenditure, which today exceeds billions of euros, is an unbearable burden for some countries. After all, the EU economy is in decline, especially the advanced powers such as Germany, France and Italy. They are now feeling the crisis in energy, in the supply of components, in the supply of technology… ”, Matviychuk noted.
Russia launches counterattack in Kursk
President Zelensky admitted that Russia launched a counterattack in Kursk. “ Russia launched counterattacks in Kursk, in line with what Ukraine had in mind ,” Zelensky said.
He did not provide details about the scale of the counter-offensive, but insisted it “took place in accordance with Ukraine’s plans.”

Russia began its counter-offensive in Kursk in August, a month after the Ukrainian army launched its assault on the territory. The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) has recorded new attacks from Ukraine in the western Snagost region and areas that Kiev had taken control of after the initial offensive. Kiev says it has seized about 1,300 square kilometers of land in more than 100 settlements in Kursk, with the aim of creating a “buffer zone” to protect Ukraine from Russian attacks.
Russia regains control of 10 villages in Kursk
The Russian Defense Ministry said its troops recaptured 10 villages from Ukraine in the border province of Kursk.
“ Russian forces continue the operation to defeat enemy units that penetrated Kursk. The Northern Group has liberated 10 villages in two days, including Apanasovka, Byakhovo, Vishnevka, Viktorovka, Vnezapnoye, Gordeyevka, Krasnooktyabrskoye, Obukhovka, Snagost and Desyaty Oktyabr ,” the Russian Defense Ministry said.
The Russian military also announced that it had repelled two Ukrainian counterattacks near the villages of Fanaseyevka and Snagost, and had prevented an attempt to attack in the direction of the village of Olgovka.
European country proposes to let Ukrainians return home to join the army
Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said EU members should cut social benefits for Ukrainian refugees to encourage them to return home and fight. The diplomat said EU countries were weakening the Ukrainian army.
“ We are reducing Ukraine's mobilization potential by subsidizing Ukrainian refugees ,” Mr. Sikorski said.
The Polish government provides money for Ukrainian adults entering the country with children, but countries in Western Europe also provide other benefits, he said.
According to him, these subsidies will be a financial obstacle for Ukrainians to return home. “ We should not subsidize evasion of military service ,” he declared.
