Defender Van Vi: Coach Kim Sang Sik reminded me to attack more

On the evening of March 25 at Binh Duong Stadium, the Vietnamese team won 5-0 against Laos, within the framework of Group F of the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup.

The goals were scored by Chau Ngoc Quang (11'), Nguyen Van Vi (44', 50'), Nguyen Hai Long (63') and Nguyen Quang Hai (84').

The title of Best Player of the Match was awarded to Nguyen Van Vi by the organizers.

Speaking after the match, the left-back from Nam Dinh Club shared: "I am very happy to score to help the Vietnamese team win.

I want to dedicate the goal to my family who came to Binh Duong to watch the match as well as the fans who always follow the team's journey.

When I enter the field, I try to play 100% of my strength. Whether I score or not, I always keep the best spirit to contribute to helping the team towards victory.

Before this match, the coaching staff analyzed the Laos team for us. Today's match, I played exactly as coach Kim Sang Sik requested. He always wanted me to contribute more to the team's attack.

I think the point that the Vietnamese team needs to improve is to be more careful and take advantage of opportunities better."

Nguyen Van Vi was born in 1998 in Yen Phong, Bac Ninh, is 1.69m tall and plays as a left back. He came from the Hanoi Club training center, played for Hong Linh Ha Tinh, Hanoi and is currently on the payroll of Nam Dinh Club from the 2023-2024 season.

In the V-League, Van Vi has had a total of 86 appearances, scoring 6 goals. He was called up to the Vietnam national team by coach Park Hang Seo in June 2022 and played in a friendly match against Afghanistan.

After that, Van Vi did not have a position in the national team until 2024, he was highly regarded by coach Kim Sang Sik and given a starting position from the 2024 ASEAN Cup.
