On October 18 in Hai Phong, the Organizing Committee of the Northern Golf Club Championship announced the 2023 season with the participation of 300 golfers from 20 golf clubs including Hai Phong, Hanoi, Bac Ninh, Ha Nam, Hai Duong, Hung Yen, Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh, Thai Binh, Vinh Phuc, Bac Kan, Lang Son, Thai Nguyen, Phu Tho, Bac Giang, Quang Ninh, Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Hoa Binh, Son La.
The Northern Golf Club Championship was held for the first time in Hai Phong.
The tournament is organized in a team competition format, each men's team has a maximum of 12 official players and 3 reserve players while each women's team has 4 official players and 2 reserve players. The teams compete in 2 rounds with 12 men's matches and 6 women's matches. All matches are arranged according to the principle of random pairing. Each win is counted as 1 point, a draw is 0.5 point and a loss is 0 point. The team with the most points will win. If two or more teams have the same points, each team will choose 1 best player to compete in a play-off in the stroke play format. If there is still a tie, the Organizing Committee will draw lots to choose the winning team.
The host golf team Hai Phong is ready to conquer the 2023 Northern Golf Tournament
Mr. Vu Nguyen - Vice President and General Secretary of Vietnam Golf Association shared: "After the success of the Central and Central Highlands Golf Association Championship, the Executive Committee of Vietnam Golf Association continues to organize the Northern Golf Association Championship, followed by the Southern Golf Association Championship and finally the final round of the National Golf Association Championship with 12 excellent men's teams and 6 women's teams from 3 regions. This is a new tournament system sponsored and organized by Vietnam Golf Association, we hope this will be a new breeze, a new playground for local golf associations to exchange and connect more closely in the coming time".
Mr. Trinh Thanh - Tournament Executive Director said: "With nearly 15 years of experience in running major tournaments, we hope to bring a new wind to the Northern golf movement according to the competition model between provincial teams through local golf associations, because the players will compete with all their might for the colors of their locality."
