Attractive Thong Nhat Speed ​​Cup 2025 athletics tournament, Le Tu Chinh returns

Since the 2024 Paris Olympics (August), Vietnamese track and field "speed queen" Tran Thi Nhi Yen has returned to competition. She was supposed to participate in the 2024 National Track and Field Championship (November) but unfortunately suffered an injury, so she has only returned now. At the 2025 Thong Nhat Speed ​​Cup, the 20-year-old talent Nhi Yen was given the opportunity by the Vietnamese track and field team's coaching board to return to Long An . She registered to compete in her two favorite distances, 100 m and 200 m, and a new distance of 400 m.

Notably, this tournament also has the participation of former Southeast Asian speed queen Le Tu Chinh. After returning from injury, she left the Ho Chi Minh City unit to wear the Ca Mau shirt. Because she was not qualified to compete for the new unit, she was given the opportunity to participate in the tournament to test her performance but not to be ranked for medals. At the age of 28, although she is no longer a member of the Vietnamese athletics team, she still strives to practice and pursue her passion for the queen sport . Before being dethroned by Nhi Yen, Tu Chinh had a long time dominating the 100m and 200m events at home and in Southeast Asia.

In addition to the much-anticipated competition between Tu Chinh and Nhi Yen, the 100m and 200m distances in this tournament will feature the participation of national champion Ha Thi Thu (HCMC), making the competition even more intense and exciting.

Fierce competition among track and field stars

The 2025 Thong Nhat Speed ​​Cup Athletics Tournament will also feature famous athletes such as Quach Thi Lan (women's 400m), Huynh Thi My Tien (women's 100m hurdles), Tran Dinh Son (men's 400m) and relay teams 4 x 100m, 4 x 200m, 4 x 400m. In addition, members of the Vietnamese youth athletics team will also be given the opportunity to compete.

Speaking yesterday, April 15, a member of the Vietnamese athletics team's coaching board said that the Vietnamese athletes were allowed to return to their hometowns to compete in order to increase the intensity and get used to the competition state. Most of the athletes are in the preparation stage, accumulating a physical foundation, so it is difficult to compete at 100% strength. Therefore, it is difficult to ask them to have high performance parameters at this time, and to achieve a record is even more difficult. For the young athletes, the tournament is an opportunity to compete and accumulate experience.

The tournament is also an opportunity for coaches to evaluate the training process of the athletes in order to prepare training plans for the next stage. This year, the Vietnamese athletics team focuses on two important goals: the Asian Championship (May) and the 33rd SEA Games (December). Currently, the Vietnamese athletics team with 70 members trains at the National Sports Training Centers in Hanoi, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, Tu Son (Bac Ninh)...

The Thong Nhat Speed ​​Cup Athletics Tournament takes place every April to celebrate the National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).
