The journey to leave an impression on the person who spread the passion for Math

Along with the teachers of Nguyen Cong Tru Secondary School (Ba Dinh District, Hanoi) always trying to help students realize their dreams of flying high and far, teacher Nguyen Thuy Trang has left her mark with her creativity in helping students approach Math with excitement.

Math is often labeled as “dry and academic” and many students have a fear of learning Math. However, with her love for her job and her students, teacher Nguyen Thuy Trang has been recognized as “a person who spreads the passion for Math in a special way” with her own way of making her students love and learn Math well.

Sharing about her work, Ms. Trang said: “In the context of the education and training sector of Ba Dinh district promoting digital transformation, I myself am constantly learning and applying information technology in every lesson. I always wonder how to have interesting lessons for students while still achieving efficiency, how to let children learn while playing, participating in activities while still acquiring knowledge.

Therefore, my lessons are carefully prepared, creative, innovative in methods and apply new teaching techniques with high practical applicability.

From innovating assessment tests with Azota software application, then changing the way students are called on the board at the beginning of class with games on the Online Stop Watch tool. Or during class, I use Adobe Express software to create animated virtual assistants to make the children more interested in the lesson.

Teacher Nguyen Thuy Trang received the 8th "Dedicated and Creative Hanoi Teacher" Award in 2024.

In addition, to increase competition in learning, I often use Quizzi, Plickers, Kahoot... and warm-up activities of the lesson or in practice and reinforcement sections.

To reduce the burden on teachers when grading students' homework, in addition to using Azota software, I also designed online exercise sheets on Liveworksheet that can be graded automatically, with vivid sounds and images to make completing homework more interesting for children.

With the special nature of Math, there are many formulas, concepts, and properties that need to be memorized. I have guided students to make their own math notebooks or design their own mind maps on Canva and Mindmap software so that they can quickly and permanently remember knowledge and develop their creative thinking.

Notably, Ms. Nguyen Thuy Trang's teaching method is always shared and applied by colleagues in lectures, seminars, excellent teacher competitions, etc., achieving many good results for individuals and the school.

By not depending on textbooks and always distilling core knowledge for students, Ms. Trang's lessons are always engaging and exciting.

With all her love of Mathematics and passion, she skillfully turned seemingly difficult problems into logical, scientific and easy to understand ones.

"Ms. Trang is humorous, funny and teaches Math very well" is the common feeling of many generations of students when remembering teacher Thuy Trang.
