A journey looking back
Before 2018, the first people who set foot in “Dong Giang Heaven Gate” encountered a majestic highlight, a meeting place of the great forest, with towering mountain peaks and beautiful waterfalls and caves. However, the name “Dong Giang Heaven Gate” has not yet made its mark on the tourism map of Quang Nam in particular and the Central region in general.
In the period of 2017 - 2019, visitors to Dong Giang at community tourism sites in the area are estimated at more than 1,000 visitors/year. This is a modest number and is a concern of how to attract tourists and exploit the tourism potential of Quang Nam mountainous region.
By the time Dong Giang Heaven Gate Eco-Tourism Area officially opened to welcome guests in April 2022, the number of visitors was estimated to reach more than 42,000, marking the determination to develop systematic tourism of a key tourist area with the largest scale in the Western Quang Nam region in the first phase of operation.
Remember at the end of 2022, the Vietnam Record Organization recognized Dong Giang Heaven Gate Eco-tourism Area as "The eco-tourism area with the most natural waterfalls in Vietnam" with a system of 25 waterfalls and streams. Up to now, after 2 years of welcoming guests, "Dong Giang Heaven Gate" has become a new attractive destination with many tourism products associated with indigenous culture, contributing to overcoming the weaknesses that existed before. It is estimated that in the period of 2022 - 2024, this tourist area has welcomed more than 120,000 visitors.
Acknowledging and speaking about the changes of this land at the opening ceremony of Dong Giang Heaven Gate Eco-tourism Area in April 2024, Mr. Ho Quang Buu - Vice Chairman of Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee said: "The presence of Dong Giang Heaven Gate Eco-tourism Area has the meaning of pioneering, awakening the potential and enhancing the position and competitiveness of mountainous tourism, contributing to promoting Quang Nam mountainous tourism in the coming time".
Creating sustainable livelihoods, promoting economic development
Following the projects of phase 1 that have been put into operation, Dong Giang Heaven Gate Eco-tourism Area is currently continuing to launch a series of other impressive projects at the 400m and 800m peak areas. Typical projects include the cable car project, Love Mountain peak; swimming pool and tennis entertainment complex; culinary village... Along with that, visitors can participate in new experiences and services about indigenous culture such as: knitting, weaving, wrapping cakes, and the show "Dance of the Great Forest".
In particular, the cable car category will be officially introduced and put into testing by the tourist area along with many attractive sightseeing and entertainment activities. The investor said that this is the first cable car route in Quang Nam with a length of more than 1.6km, provided and consulted by Doppelmayr Garaventa cable car company (Austria). The cable car system includes 2 stations, 7 cable towers and 19 cabins put into use in phase 1, with a capacity of serving more than 1,000 passengers/hour. Visitors will experience a journey of cloud hunting in the middle of the mountains and forests with diverse primary vegetation, and admire the waterfall system from above.
Mr. Martin Baer - Project Director, representative of Doppelmayr Garaventa cable car company, commented: "The presence of the cable car line will be an impressive highlight of the tourist area, opening a new era for tourism in the mountainous region of Quang Nam, creating professional, sustainable and prosperous tourism development for this place".
Ms. Pham Thi Nghia - Deputy General Director of FVG Travel Corporation (under FVG Group), the unit managing and operating the tourist area, said that in the coming time, the unit will continue to improve the landscape, put more product packages, services and new construction items into operation to realize the goal of welcoming more than 100,000 visitors/year.
The investor has overcome many difficulties and challenges caused by natural disasters, the COVID-19 pandemic, and limited infrastructure conditions that significantly affected the construction and operation of Dong Giang Heaven Gate Eco-Tourism Area. The 7-year journey of building and developing "Dong Giang Heaven Gate" is not long, but it is a step forward in persistently pursuing the goal and orientation of sustainable development of green tourism with 4 criteria: eco-tourism, resort, spirituality and maximizing the promotion of indigenous culture of FVG Group.
It can be affirmed that the perseverance, enthusiasm and love for the mountains and forests of investors such as FVG Group have created a large-scale eco-tourism area in the Western Quang Nam region, contributing to generating revenue for the local tourism industry. “Dong Giang Heaven’s Gate” also creates livelihoods, solves employment, and changes the lives of people in Dong Giang and neighboring areas for the better.
In addition to renewing products, Dong Giang Heaven Gate Eco-Tourism Area also introduces many other attractive product packages lasting from the end of May to the end of 2024 to stimulate tourism.
Specifically, visitors will enjoy a discount of 350,000 VND/adult and 250,000 VND/child including sightseeing and experiencing new services. In addition, if accompanied by food and beverage services, visitors will receive a discount of 500,000 VND/adult and 400,000 VND/child.
