The Women's Union of My Khanh commune recently collaborated with the My Khanh Commune Youth Union (Phong Dien district) and the An Hoa Ward Youth Union (Ninh Kieu district) to plant 150 bougainvillea trees along the My Hoa hamlet road. Ms. Van Thi My Linh, President of the My Khanh Commune Women's Union, stated: “Building a green, clean, and beautiful environment is one of the key tasks the Union focuses on. Accordingly, the Women's Union of the commune emphasizes integrating environmental protection awareness into the regular meetings of its clubs, branches, and groups through various diverse and engaging methods.” Monthly, the Union mobilizes its members and residents to clean up the environment, care for ornamental plants, and collect garbage along the main roads in the area.
In 2024, the Women's Union of My Khanh commune coordinated 32 campaigns to clean up the environment and care for ornamental plants in the hamlets, and planted 150 bougainvillea trees in My Loc hamlet, attracting over 1,100 female cadres and members to participate. In addition, the Women's Union of the commune focused on maintaining and improving the "5 Yes, 3 Clean" models, "Women participating in clean and safe production," and "Women reducing the use of plastic bags and single-use plastic products," linked with the implementation of the "5 No, 3 Clean" family model and the "Bright - Green - Clean - Safe Road" model.
Together with the Women's Union of My Khanh commune, women's unions at all levels in Phong Dien district have implemented many effective methods to protect the environment. In Nhon Nghia commune, environmental protection activities have been widely and continuously implemented by the Women's Union for many years. According to Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Lam, President of the Women's Union of Nhon Nghia commune, every year, the Union develops plans to establish models of "5 Yes, 3 Clean" and "5 No, 3 Clean" associated with the movement to build models against plastic waste to protect the environment and respond to climate change. Currently, the Union is maintaining the effective operation of 8 models of "Women limiting the use of plastic bags and single-use plastic products" and "Waste sorting at source" in the hamlets. In addition, the Union regularly encourages members to use compost bins to hold organic waste in their daily lives; coordinates with other organizations to carry out many tasks to build a bright, green, clean, and beautiful landscape;...
From the beginning of 2025 until now, the Women's Union of Truong Long commune, in coordination with the Party Branch of Truong Phu A hamlet, has carried out weed removal along 2km of road; organized the collection of recyclable waste from the "Waste Sorting at Source" model in Truong Tho A hamlet to raise funds to buy and donate 100 notebooks to disadvantaged students. In addition, the Union maintains the operation of 16 "5 No's, 3 Cleanliness" family building clubs; 16 "5 Yes's, 3 Cleanliness" family building models; the "Waste Sorting at Source" model in Truong Tho A hamlet combined with the use of compost bins; and the club of members using shopping baskets to reduce the use of plastic bags in Truong Thuan hamlet;...
According to Ms. Bui Thi Uyen, President of the Phong Dien District Women's Union, the highlight of activities in environmental protection and promoting a green lifestyle is that each local Women's Union branch selects tasks and models suitable to the characteristics and actual situation of the locality. The Women's Union at all levels regularly organizes environmental sanitation campaigns; registers projects and tasks to build civilized urban areas and advanced, model new rural areas in the locality; maintains 48 environmental protection models with 725 participating members; and 26 "5 No's, 3 Cleanliness" models with 590 participating members. In 2024, all 7 local Women's Union branches helped 92 households achieve the "5 No's, 3 Cleanliness" criteria; raising the total number of member households meeting the "5 No's, 3 Cleanliness" criteria in the entire district to 15,377 households, reaching 95.61%.
The practical and meaningful actions of the Women's Union at all levels in Phong Dien district have contributed to spreading and mobilizing the participation of officials, members, women, and people to work together to preserve the living environment, making practical contributions to the movement to build advanced new rural areas and model new rural areas in the locality.
