On the afternoon of July 29, according to Thanh Nien reporters, at the ports of Bai Vong port cluster (Ham Ninh commune, Phu Quoc city, Kien Giang), hundreds of tourists sat waiting for news from shipping and ferry companies to see if they would run or not to leave Phu Quoc island after days of being stuck due to storms.

Earlier that morning, shipping and ferry companies transporting passengers between Phu Quoc and the mainland simultaneously informed passengers who had booked tickets that the ships and ferries would continue to suspend operations for the third day, due to strong winds and large waves in the southwest sea.
Passengers who booked ferry tickets to the mainland on July 29 were rescheduled by staff to the earliest scheduled trip at 12:30 on July 30, along with the next trips according to the previous registration order. However, at around 9:00 a.m. on the same day, information on social networks in Phu Quoc was abuzz that the Ha Tien - Phu Quoc ferry route would resume operation from 11:00 a.m. on July 29. As a result, many people stuck in Phu Quoc were busy checking out of their hotels to go to Bai Vong port cluster to buy tickets to the mainland.

Many motorcyclists bought tickets from Phu Quoc to Ha Tien at 11am. However, 5 minutes before departure, a representative of the high-speed ferry company announced that the Maritime Port Authority of Kien Giang province had not yet allowed vehicles to leave the port.
Mr. Nguyen Duy Kha (from Soc Trang) said that he and his extended family went to Phu Quoc 6 days ago, planning to return yesterday (July 28). However, because the ferry was not running, his family had to stay on the island. "This morning, I saw on Facebook that the ferry would depart from 11am, so I quickly checked out of my room to go to the pier to buy tickets. Unexpectedly, at almost 11am, the ferry announced that it was not running, so my family had to return to the hotel," Mr. Kha shared.
As Thanh Nien reported, since the morning of July 27, due to bad weather, all ships and ferries transporting passengers from the mainland to Phu Quoc and the islands of Kien Giang province have had to temporarily stop operating. The decision to allow ships and ferries to operate again depends on weather forecasts, especially the one broadcast at 6 am every day.
