The Hanoi Stock Exchange has just announced a list of 72 stocks that are not eligible for margin trading (margin lending) in the third quarter of 2023. Of these, 20 stocks are due to businesses that have suffered losses by the end of 2022, such as APS, CMC, CTC, DPC, DS3, KDM, KKC, KSQ, KTT, L40, L43, L61, NDN, PV2, PVB, TTH, VE1, VE4, VE8, WSS. In addition, the codes CTC, DPC, DS3, DTC...
In addition, some stocks such as CTX, MIM, VE2... are under control, restricted from trading or suspended from trading; other stocks such as DNM and SDT are subject to delisting.
Hundreds of stocks cut off from margin lending in Q3/2023
Similarly, the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange (HOSE) also announced a list of 76 stocks and fund certificates that are not eligible for margin trading (margin borrowing) in the third quarter of 2023. However, this number has decreased by 11 codes compared to the total number in the list in the second quarter of 2023.
Most of the stocks that have their margin lending cut are those that are under warning or control such as ABS, APC, AST, BCE, CIG, DXV, EVG, FDC, GMC, HVN, ITA, LDG, OGC, POM, PPC, PVP, SCD, SJF, TDH, TGG, TTF, VCA, VNL,... In which, VDS of Rong Viet Securities Joint Stock Company is the only securities company stock that has its margin cut due to being under warning.
The stocks HBC - Hoa Binh Construction Group, HPX - Hai Phat Investment, IBC - Apax Holdings Investment... are under restricted trading and cannot be traded on margin. The codes HAG of Hoang Anh Gia Lai, HNG of Hoang Anh Gia Lai International Agriculture Joint Stock Company, NVL of No Va Real Estate Investment Group (Novaland)... also continue to have their margin cut in the third quarter due to being under warning and control.
Notably, many stocks are not allowed to trade on margin due to their declining business results in 2022, such as SMC, NKG, PSH, PVD, HAR, APH, DTL, HII, HSG... Some other reasons leading to margin cuts are because the securities are suspended from trading or delisted such as TTB - Tien Bo Group Joint Stock Company or EMC - Thu Duc Electromechanical Joint Stock Company.
Not being eligible for margin trading means that investors will not be able to pledge these stocks at the securities company to borrow money to trade or the securities company will not be able to make new loans for these stocks.
