Through the Higher Education Innovation Cooperation Project, more than 2,000 leaders, lecturers, and researchers have received training to enhance their management, teaching, and research capabilities.
The Higher Education Innovation Cooperation Project, implemented by Indiana University (USA) and funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), in partnership with three Vietnamese universities – Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam National University Hanoi , and University of Da Nang – aims to innovate in governance, teaching, and research. This project promotes higher education innovation as outlined in the amended Higher Education Law of 2018.
During the period 2022-2024, the project implemented activities such as capacity building training for over 2,000 leaders, lecturers, and scientists from 3 universities and 19 member schools; organizing specialized scientific conferences and workshops to promote collaborative research; and providing consultancy on the development of training programs and management information systems.
Specifically, the University Governance Innovation component has developed and implemented a results-based governance system, a management information system, and built dashboards to support operations. In addition, internal quality assurance of training programs has been enhanced through the development of processes, tools, and guidelines to ensure that training programs meet the needs of learners and the labor market, aiming to develop high-quality human resources. Simultaneously, the leadership and management staff of the three universities have improved their leadership capabilities and learned governance models from Indiana University.
Regarding the component on improving the quality of teaching and learning , 620 lecturers from three universities received professional development in teaching through training courses such as "Teaching for Student Success" and "Professional Development in Blended Teaching". Simultaneously, the Project supported the development of five online courses, contributing to the advancement of online training aligned with the digital higher education model of each institution.

Regarding the component on enhancing research and innovation capacity , universities are supported in improving their research capacity through activities such as building and developing Vietnam-International Academic Networks; improving research management and support systems; and implementing scholar exchange programs...
The project supported universities in organizing international scientific conferences with the participation of prestigious international scientists and aimed at expanding networking opportunities. In addition, the three universities finalized regulations and guidelines on scientific integrity and research ethics committees, moving towards an honest, responsible, and transparent scientific environment.
Regarding the University-Business Linkage Enhancement component , the project facilitates the holistic development of young people and helps them meet the increasingly demanding requirements of the labor market. 170 students received training to enhance their professional and leadership skills, develop their creative potential, and take control of their future.
Professor Tran Ngoc Anh, the project leader, stated that with the results achieved, the project aims to make an effective contribution to promoting innovation in higher education in Vietnam, meeting the goal of improving the quality of human resources to serve the country's industrialization, modernization, and international integration.
