Through the Higher Education Innovation Cooperation project, more than 2,000 leaders, lecturers and researchers have been trained to improve their management, teaching and research capacity.
The Higher Education Innovation Partnership Project is implemented by Indiana University (USA), funded by the Agency for International Development (USAID) with partners from three Vietnamese universities, including Ho Chi Minh City National University, Hanoi National University and Danang University, to innovate in governance, teaching and research. This is a project to promote innovation in higher education as proposed in the 2018 revised Law on Higher Education.
During the 2022-2024 period, the project has implemented activities such as training to improve professional capacity for more than 2,000 leaders, lecturers, and scientists from 3 universities and 19 member schools; organizing conferences and specialized scientific seminars to promote research cooperation activities; consulting on the development of training programs, management information systems, etc.
Specifically, the University Governance Innovation component has built and deployed a results-based management system, a management information system, and developed Dashboards for operations. In addition, the internal quality assurance of training programs has been improved through the development of processes, tools, and guidelines to ensure that training programs meet the needs of learners and the labor market, aiming to develop quality human resources. At the same time, the leadership and key management staff of the three universities have improved their leadership capacity and learned the governance model from Indiana University.
Regarding the component of Improving the quality of teaching and learning , 620 lecturers of the three universities were developed in teaching expertise through training courses for lecturers such as “Teaching for Student Success” and “Professional Development in Blended Teaching”. At the same time, the Project supported the development of five online courses, contributing to promoting the online training process in accordance with the digital higher education model of each unit.
Regarding the component of Improving research and innovation capacity , universities are supported to improve their research capacity through activities to build and develop Vietnam - International Academic Networks; improve management systems and research support; implement scholar exchange programs...
The project has supported universities to organize international scientific conferences with the participation of internationally renowned scientists and to expand their networks. In addition, the three universities have completed regulations and rules on scientific integrity and research ethics councils, aiming for honest, responsible and transparent science.
Regarding the component of Strengthening University-Enterprise Connection , the project creates conditions for the young generation to develop comprehensively and meet the increasing demands of the labor market. 170 students are trained to improve their professional and leadership skills, develop their creative potential and master the future.
Prof. Dr. Tran Ngoc Anh, Project Manager, said that with the achieved results, the project hopes to effectively contribute to promoting innovation in higher education in Vietnam, meeting the goal of improving the quality of human resources, serving the cause of industrialization, modernization of the country and international integration.
