These days, people across the country are looking forward to the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day. On this occasion, each peak day, the Management Board of the General Secretary Le Duan Memorial Site and Quang Tri Ancient Citadel welcomes more than 6,500 visitors to the Quang Tri Ancient Citadel National Special Relic to offer incense and pay tribute to the heroic martyrs.
To serve the reception work, the Management Board mobilized 100% of the staff to open the door to welcome guests day and night. After offering incense and commemorating at Quang Tri Ancient Citadel, guests went to the flower wharf on Thach Han River to burn incense and release flowers to pay tribute to heroic martyrs.
Veteran Ngo Vi Kim, from Quoc Oai district, Hanoi, came to Quang Tri Citadel for the first time and felt that this place has gone down in history as a heroic epic of the army and people of Quang Tri in particular and the whole country in general. He felt that this place was an extremely fierce battlefield, thousands of outstanding sons of the Fatherland had fallen. Their blood and bones were transformed into every inch of land, merging into the vast waves of Thach Han river, transforming into every branch, blade of grass, and inch of land in the Citadel.
Veteran Ngo Vi Kim was moved: "Coming to Quang Tri Citadel, I felt a fierce time, the terrible destruction of the enemy. Coming here to see the images of wounded and sacrificed soldiers, I saw the heroic fighting of our army and people. I was also a soldier fighting on the southern battlefield, knowing what sacrifice is, feeling sorry for my comrades, some of whom sacrificed 2-3 times, who had already fallen and continued to be hit by bombs and artillery shells and could not retrieve their bodies, it was very pitiful."
Quang Tri Ancient Citadel was the site of 81 days and nights of fierce fighting in the fiery summer of 1972, writing a heroic epic filled with blood and flowers, adding color to the nation's indomitable golden history.
