The two industries of tourism and aviation are connected by a symbiotic relationship. Tourism brings passengers to aviation; aviation creates momentum for tourism development. Therefore, both industries need to coordinate smoothly and “hold hands” to attract tourists.
Closer cooperation needed
Recently, in Nha Trang City, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (Ministry of Construction) in collaboration with the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) organized a conference on aviation and tourism services during the April 30 and May 1 holidays. At the conference, the relationship between aviation and tourism continued to be discussed by delegates. All of them wished for closer cooperation to attract tourists to Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Dinh Van Thieu - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized that thanks to airlines opening international flights from Korea, Kazakhstan..., most recently from Russia, the number of tourists to Khanh Hoa has increased recently. However, Khanh Hoa's potential to attract tourists is still very large. The province hopes that airlines will study and expand domestic and international flights to Khanh Hoa, especially from large potential markets such as: India, Australia, Japan... and restore some domestic flights.
Also at the conference, the leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said that tourism and aviation have a “symbiotic” relationship, but the communication and promotion of tourism is not yet tight. The leaders of the department hope that airlines will increase the promotion of Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa tourism on flights, contributing to attracting tourists to the land of Agarwood.
Meanwhile, Mr. Pham Minh Nhut - Permanent Vice President of Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa Tourism Association said that road transport is increasingly developing, many tourists have switched from air to road when traveling. Airlines should study to reduce ticket prices, have preferential policies for group guests to compete and attract customers. In fact, airfare is a big barrier in attracting tourists.
Representatives of many travel agencies in Nha Trang said that many tourists have changed their destinations, choosing places that do not require air travel, or even switching to international travel, because the cost of many flights to Southeast Asian countries is not much different from domestic flights. The fact that the majority of domestic tourists choose to spend money abroad puts Vietnamese tourism at risk of "losing right at home".
Connecting tourism businesses and aviation businesses
In response to the above proposals, representatives of many aviation businesses said they were ready to open new routes and reduce ticket prices to stimulate tourism, but Khanh Hoa tourism needs to diversify tourism products to attract visitors. At the same time, they called on travel agencies, accommodation establishments, entertainment areas, tourist attractions, etc. in the province to participate in the campaign to stimulate night flights. "Many tourists who fly to Khanh Hoa at night have not checked in yet and do not know where to go. Similarly, guests who check out early but have not yet boarded their flight also need a place to entertain and shop...", a representative of Vietnam Airlines shared. Some other airlines suggested that Khanh Hoa tourism organize more major entertainment events, proactively provide tourism information, and schedules of cultural and entertainment events so that airlines can promptly communicate to tourists.

The leaders of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam and the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism said that in order to attract tourists to Khanh Hoa, aviation and tourism need to "join hands" closely in identifying key tourist markets and target markets. From there, coordinate to build tourism products suitable to demand, and at the same time implement a synchronous promotion and marketing plan on all distribution channels. The close connection based on sharing benefits between parties in the tourism supply chain will be the condition for building attractive product packages, reasonable prices, high competitiveness, attracting customers to use and increasing spending at the destination. According to Mr. Nguyen Trung Khanh - Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, to do this, localities need to play a leading role, connecting tourism businesses and aviation businesses to coordinate with each other to build short-term and long-term cooperation plans, on the basis of sharing benefits and responsibilities. Not only aviation and travel, destinations also need to offer reasonable preferential pricing policies to build quality resort products with preferential package prices, including air tickets, hotel rooms and tours...
