Air transports free relief goods to northerners in floods

Essential goods to support flood victims in the North are given priority for free transportation on Bamboo Airways and Vietnam Airlines flights.

On the afternoon of September 10, a representative of Bamboo Airways said that the airline officially received and transported free of charge relief goods for people in the North from September 11 to 26, in order to promptly share the difficulties with people in areas heavily affected by floods after Typhoon Yagi.

Essential goods to support flood victims in the North will be reserved and given priority for free transportation on Bamboo Airways flights as soon as possible. This policy is applied to Bamboo Airways flights departing from Ho Chi Minh City/Da Nang/Cam Ranh/Quy Nhon/Da Lat to Hanoi. Relief goods are necessities and essential items.

The airline noted that in order to transport relief goods quickly and smoothly, the goods must be packaged in sturdy packages. Each package must not exceed 40kg and each flight will carry a maximum of 500kg of aid goods.

Agencies and units that need to send goods must also have an official dispatch and send a detailed list of relief items. Bamboo Airways will not accept to transport goods that are equipment, items containing batteries inside, or goods and items containing dangerous goods.

Mr. Luong Hoai Nam, General Director of Bamboo Airways, said that Bamboo Airways staff are making efforts to prioritize transporting relief goods on flights. " We look forward to joining hands to provide the fastest and most timely support to our compatriots in the North who are severely affected by historic storms and floods ," said Mr. Nam.

Similarly, from September 10, Vietnam Airlines Group also began transporting relief goods with a free shipping policy for people affected by Typhoon Yagi. The airline charges fuel surcharges and related fees.

Units are given priority loading on flights from airports across the country to Noi Bai Airport (Hanoi), Cat Bi (Hai Phong), Vinh (Nghe An), Tho Xuan (Thanh Hoa), Van Don (Quang Ninh), Dien Bien.

Goods will be received and transported free of charge on flights operated by Vietnam Airlines Group (including Vietnam Airlines, Pacific Airlines, Vasco).

The program applies to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees at all levels, People's Committees of provinces and cities, Vietnam Red Cross Society at all levels, and charitable funds (licensed for establishment and charter recognized by State agencies).
