To proactively respond to storm Tra Mi, which is expected to make landfall in Vietnam, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam requires agencies and units to organize 24/7 duty according to the Regulations on Duty for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and the Procedures for responding to storms and tropical depressions in civil aviation activities.
Airlines are required to closely monitor the development of the tropical depression to adjust flight plans or change flight schedules accordingly in some directly affected localities and ensure flight safety.
Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation is required to direct aviation meteorological service providers to strengthen the work of ensuring the quality of meteorological information, as well as continuously monitor the weather situation in the area of responsibility, update forecasts and warnings. At the same time, provide timely and complete monitoring, forecasting and warning information to users.
Airports, airlines, and flight operations service providers are responsible for strengthening coordination and closely monitoring the developments of tropical depressions to have plans to adjust flight plans or change flight schedules accordingly in some localities directly affected and ensure flight safety.
According to information from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting and the Weather Warning Center (MWO), at 1:00 p.m. on October 23, storm Trami (Tra Mi in Vietnamese) was centered at about 16.2 degrees North latitude; 123.6 degrees East longitude, in the sea east of Luzon Island (Philippines). The strongest wind near the storm center was level 9 (75-88 km/h), gusting to level 11. Moving in the West Northwest direction, speed 15-20 km/h.
Storm forecast (next 24 - 72 hours) disaster risk level 3; affected areas are the East of the North East Sea and the North East Sea.
Fully update meteorological information from relevant aviation meteorological agencies and based on the actual situation to deploy necessary response actions, minimize impacts on operations, ensure flight safety, protect people and assets of the unit from natural disasters.
At the same time, deploy plans to prevent rain and storms, measures to prevent flooding, clear the flow in airports, protect works, vehicles and equipment at airports, minimize damage caused by rain and storms and quickly stabilize all aviation activities to serve the needs of passengers.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam also requested airport authorities to monitor the implementation of response measures at relevant airports, ensuring smooth communication with the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam's Search and Rescue Command Committee and relevant agencies and units within their scope of responsibility to deploy response measures in all situations.
