(CLO) At least one person died and dozens of others are still missing in a devastating landslide in Sichuan province, southwestern China on Saturday (February 9).

Saturday's landslide prompted rescue teams to use drones and life-detecting radar to search for possible survivors in the rubble of collapsed homes on Sunday, according to Chinese state broadcaster CCTV.

The landslide, caused by recent heavy rainfall and geological conditions, occurred on Saturday in Jinping Village in Junlian County, according to Chinese authorities. The scene of the horrific landslide stretched for more than 1 kilometer.

About 360 people were evacuated from the area after 10 homes and a manufacturing building were buried by the landslide, CCTV reported, adding that dozens of people were still missing.

Hundreds of rescue workers, including firefighters, have been deployed to the area. Continued rain and landslides have made rescue operations more difficult. So far, two people have been rescued and they are injured, according to CCTV.

According to Xinhua News Agency, President Xi Jinping has issued important instructions, stressing that all-out efforts must be made to search for and rescue the missing people.

Xi Jinping also stressed the need to strengthen disaster monitoring and early warning, ensure rescue work is carried out scientifically and prevent secondary disasters.

In a separate directive, Premier Li Qiang urged efforts to rescue those trapped, check for potential geological hazards in surrounding areas, move those at risk to safety and guard against secondary risks.
