Flood water is receding but quite slowly, causing tens of thousands of students in Le Thuy District and Quang Ninh District (Quang Binh) to not be able to go to school...
On October 31, the Department of Education and Training of Quang Binh province said that more than 85,000 students are currently absent from school because their classrooms are still deeply submerged in floodwater. Of these, 27,300 high school students are absent from school due to the flood; 58,000 middle school, primary school and preschool students are absent due to the flood.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Vung, Head of the Department of Education and Training of Le Thuy District, each unit and locality will base on the actual situation to let students return to school. In the suburbs, students have already returned to school; in the flooded areas including An Thuy, Phong Thuy, Loc Thuy, Xuan Thuy communes, and Kien Giang town, it will be next week before safety is ensured and students can return to school.

Meanwhile, in Quang Ninh district, there are currently 20,261 students who cannot go to school due to flooding.
Even when the water recedes, students will not be able to return to school immediately because classrooms and desks are still submerged in mud. On October 30 and today (October 31), in areas where the water has receded, teachers, with the support of authorities and youth union members, have been cleaning up... waiting for the day when students can return to school.
