On May 16, information from Tan Son Nhat International Airport (HCMC) said that yesterday afternoon (May 15), bad weather affected many flights.
Specifically, at 3:55 p.m. on May 15, thunderstorms occurred at Tan Son Nhat International Airport. According to Tan Son Nhat International Airport, there were 15 delayed flights, 14 diverted flights, and 1 flight had to wait due to weather effects. By 5:11 p.m. the same day, the weather was good, and takeoff and landing operations returned to normal.
On May 15, Tan Son Nhat International Airport operated 584 flights with 94,725 arriving and departing passengers.
“Response to bad weather is always prepared before the rainy and stormy season and always ensures safe flight operations,” said a representative of Tan Son Nhat International Airport.

Regarding the weather conditions affecting the Ho Chi Minh City area in the next 10 days (from May 15 to May 25), the Southern Hydrometeorological Station said that currently, the rain-causing disturbances are operating well in the Southern region. From about May 18-19, the Southwest monsoon will operate in the Southern region.

From the above weather patterns, it is forecasted that the Southern region in general and Ho Chi Minh City in particular will continue to have thunderstorms in the coming days (thunderstorms mainly appear in the afternoon, evening and night).
“Thunderstorms may cause tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind. Beware of heavy rain causing localized flooding,” said the Southern Hydrometeorological Station.
