*China's National People's Congress condemns Philippines' Maritime Zone Act: On November 8, China's National People's Congress (NPC) expressed strong opposition and condemnation to the Philippines' decision to enact the Maritime Zone Act.
In a statement, the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National People's Congress of China affirmed that the above law is the Philippines' intention to enforce the illegal arbitral award on the East Sea issue in 2016 through domestic law and is a serious infringement on China's territorial sovereignty, maritime rights and interests in the East Sea. *South Korea fires ballistic missile into Yellow Sea: South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said the country on November 8 fired a Hyunmoo-II surface-to-surface ballistic missile into the Yellow Sea in a show of force after a series of recent missile launches by North Korea.
The live-fire drill took place in the coastal county of Taean, 108 km southwest of Seoul, days after North Korea fired short-range ballistic missiles and an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM).
"Through this live-fire exercise, our military demonstrated its strong determination to respond to any provocation by North Korea," the JCS statement said.
South Korea's military said it will continue to closely monitor North Korea's military activities along with the United States, noting that it is maintaining readiness to respond "overwhelmingly" to any provocations by Pyongyang. (Yonhap)
*South Korea declares immediate response if North Korea launches nuclear attack: In an interview with Newsweek magazine (USA) on November 8, South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol declared that a nuclear-based alliance between the country and the US would strike immediately if North Korea attempted a nuclear attack on South Korea.
Yoon Suk Yeol also stressed South Korea's advanced defense and attack capabilities against potential nuclear attacks from North Korea. He reiterated Seoul's stance against developing its own nuclear weapons, warning that such a move could prompt Japan and Taiwan (China) to pursue nuclear weapons, heightening tensions in the region.

*Russia ready to "break the ice" in relations with the US: Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced on November 8 that Russia is still ready to contact US President-elect Donald Trump.
A day earlier, in a speech at the Valdai International Discussion Club, Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated Trump on his victory in the US presidential election and stressed that Moscow was not opposed to resuming relations with both President-elect Trump and other Western leaders. Trump later told NBC News that he had not spoken to Putin but believed the two sides would talk.
Commenting on whether there could be talk of a warming of relations between Russia and the United States after Trump's election victory, Peskov said: "There have been some statements, but it is not time for concrete steps. It would be too early to talk about this." (Sputniknews)

*EU discusses ways to cooperate with new US administration: On November 8, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that European leaders will continue to cooperate well with the new US President, emphasizing that the European Union (EU) needs to maintain its strength in the face of conflicts in Europe and the Middle East.
Speaking after meeting other leaders in Budapest, Mr Scholz stressed: "We will continue to cooperate well with the future president of the United States. And the question of how to achieve this has been the subject of our discussion. A quite clear question. Together as the EU, as Europeans, we must do what is necessary for our security."
Earlier, speaking ahead of an informal summit of EU leaders in Budapest, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said the US under Donald Trump would "give up" the war in Ukraine and Europe could not finance the war on its own. (Reuters)
*Russia may hold military exercises with North Korea: Russian President Vladimir Putin suggested on November 7 that his country could hold military exercises with North Korea.
President Putin, who neither denied nor confirmed the presence of North Korean troops inside a Russian region partly controlled by the Ukrainian military, said a cooperation agreement between Russia and North Korea signed earlier this year outlined the guidelines for Russia's cooperation with North Korea.
"There is also a fourth article, which talks about mutual assistance in case of aggression by another state. Everything is in the agreement. And I repeat once again, there is practically nothing new compared to the treaty that expired during the Soviet era," Putin added.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Friday that North Korean troops had suffered casualties in fighting with Kiev forces and that some of the 11,000 North Korean troops he said had been sent to Russia's Kursk province had joined the fighting. (Reuters)

*Turkey: Donald Trump administration can resolve regional crisis: On November 8, TRT television reported that Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said he invited US President-elect Donald Trump to visit the country after a phone call on November 6, in which Trump spoke very positively about Ankara.
Speaking to reporters on his return flight from Budapest, Erdogan said Ankara's cooperation with Washington under the Trump administration could also help resolve regional crises. He said Trump's presidency would significantly affect the political and military balance in the Middle East.

*Houthi vows to continue attacks in Red Sea: Yemen's Houthi forces said on November 7 that the group will continue military operations in the Red Sea in support of Palestine, regardless of potential policy changes after the US presidential election.
In a speech on al-Masirah television, Houthi leader Abdul-Malik al-Houthi affirmed that Houthi military operations will continue to target ships linked to Israeli, American and British interests.
Since November 2023, the Houthis have launched hundreds of ballistic missiles, drones and unmanned aerial vehicles at Israeli-linked international naval and commercial vessels in the Red Sea and other waters off Yemen.
