Restricting the transport of cars to Cat Ba during the holidays of April 30 - May 1

Accordingly, the City People's Committee assigned the Department of Construction to announce restrictions on the transport of cars and trucks through Dong Bai ferry (from Cat Hai to Cat Ba island) from April 26 to May 4 and weekends from May 10 to July 30.

Restricted time for private vehicles, cars, trucks from 9am to 1pm daily (except for priority vehicles according to law). During the above restricted time, people and tourists to Cat Ba island can travel by waterway, Tuan Chau - Gia Luan ferry or cable car.

From April 26 to May 4 and weekends until July 30, cars and trucks are restricted from going to Cat Ba Island.

However, depending on the actual traffic situation at Dong Bai Ferry, the Department of Construction needs to proactively coordinate with the City Police to flexibly regulate vehicles passing through Dong Bai Ferry on specific days.

The City People's Committee assigned the Department of Construction to direct relevant units to inspect the quality of old ferries. If they ensure safe operating conditions, there will be a backup plan to add about 3 more ferries to serve residents and tourists in case of a sudden increase in tourists.

At the same time, direct units directly managing and operating water vehicles to proactively work with Hai Phong Maritime Port Authority and relevant agencies to operate overtime on peak days, ensuring absolute safety and compliance with legal regulations.

The Department of Construction proactively provides full information related to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to serve the information and propaganda work on forms of transportation to Cat Ba Island, passenger transport capacity of each type of vehicle, etc.

Hai Phong City People's Committee assigned the City Police to regulate and divert traffic, minimize traffic congestion on ferries; have a permanent force during the time vehicles are in circulation, serving residents and tourists to ensure timely response to any incidents that may occur. Ensure security and order in Cat Hai district, especially at places with a lot of tourists.

To ensure waterway traffic safety, the City People's Committee assigned the Cat Hai District People's Committee to dredge the area in front of Dong Bai and Cai Vieng wharves, ensuring that ferries operate smoothly and are not affected by tides, and to be completed before April 25, 2025.

The city also assigned the Hai Phong Maritime Port Authority and the Hai Phong Border Guard Command to coordinate and guide the Hai Phong Waterway Traffic Assurance Joint Stock Company and other waterway transport units to complete procedures according to regulations, ensuring absolute safety in transporting passengers on inland waterways and maritime routes.
