Ham Thuan Bac: Heavy rain flooded 50 hectares of rice, estimated damage of 250 million VND

BTO-This morning (May 29), the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue of Ham Thuan Bac district said that heavy rain had just occurred in Thuan Minh commune, causing flooding.

Specifically, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on May 28, moderate and heavy rain occurred upstream in Thuan Minh commune. The amount of water from upstream flowing into rivers, streams, and canals in the fields flooded 50 hectares of summer-autumn rice (30-45 days old) of the people of Thuan Minh commune. The estimated damage was 250 million VND.

Immediately after the local flooding, the District People's Committee directed the People's Committee of Thuan Minh commune to inspect and mobilize forces and means. At the same time, coordinate with the people to implement the dredging of drainage canals and pumping out floods, collecting garbage at drainage locations to clear the flow so that the water can drain quickly. Thereby, it aims to limit the flooding time, focus on taking care of crops so that people can soon stabilize their lives and production. On the other hand, the locality continues to monitor forecasts and warnings about the weather and floods that may occur in the coming days, requesting the People's Committees of communes and towns in the whole district to organize serious on-duty shifts, inform people in the commune about the situation to proactively prevent and minimize damage caused by rain, floods and inundation.
