Recognition of efforts to overcome environmental pollution
Regarding this issue, National Assembly Deputy Nguyen Huu Thong said that, implementing the direction of the Provincial People's Committee, on March 21, 2025, the District Department of Agriculture and Environment chaired the invitation to the Department of Agriculture and Environment, representatives of political organizations, unions of Hong Son commune, Ham Duc commune and affected households of the 2 communes (about 70 households) to listen to the Company report on the results of odor remediation at the Lang Viet High-Tech Pig Farm and Lang Viet 1 Pig Farm.

After listening to the Company's report on the results of odor remediation, the Department of Agriculture and Environment recorded 10 comments from the people. Accordingly, the people acknowledged the efforts of Lang Viet Company Limited to implement odor reduction solutions. At the same time, they noted that the frequency and concentration of odors had decreased compared to the time when the farm had not applied new odor treatment technology and systems. In addition to the comments acknowledging the company's efforts to overcome the problem, there were still some comments reflecting that the odors had not been completely treated, especially from 11pm onwards, when the wind was calm (from 5pm to 6pm). People also reported that the routes of vehicles transporting pigs from the farm had odors. If this situation persists and the company has not taken thorough measures to handle it, people are at high risk of contracting respiratory diseases.
Continue to check and evaluate odor remediation at the farm.
Therefore, in the coming time, the Provincial People's Committee directs the Department of Agriculture and Environment to coordinate with relevant departments, branches and localities to organize inspections and assessments of odor remediation at the farm. At the same time, the company is requested to increase resources to operate odor treatment works synchronously and stably. On the other hand, assign shifts to monitor odor-generating areas daily to promptly handle incidents when they occur, ensuring that odors do not affect the lives of surrounding people. At the same time, coordinate with local authorities to promote odor remediation solutions that the company has applied in the past and effectively implement social security policies in the locality.
Previously, during the operation of the Vietnam Village High-Tech Pig Farm, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment (now the Department of Agriculture and Environment) coordinated with local authorities to regularly and continuously inspect and supervise the implementation of environmental protection work of Vietnam Village Company Limited...
As a result, during the process of installing the odor treatment system, the company invited representatives of the People's Committee of Ham Duc Commune, the People's Committee of Hong Son Commune and about 30 local people to Lang Viet 1 Pig Breeding and Reserve Farm to visit the installation process of the odor treatment system on December 6, 2024. According to the company's sensory assessment during the system operation, the odor has been reduced by more than 80%. Local opinions are that when the company applies new technology and odor treatment systems, the frequency and concentration of odors have decreased significantly. At the same time, at the most recent voter meeting in early 2025 in Hong Son and Ham Duc communes, most people did not have any comments, except for one opinion that acknowledged the company's efforts in the odor treatment process and assessed that the odor has been reduced compared to before but has not reached 100% as desired. Therefore, it is recommended that the company make more efforts in odor treatment.
Through monitoring by the Department of Natural Resources and Environment in early 2025, it was also assessed that in areas where odor treatment systems have been installed, there is no longer a foul odor, while areas that have not been completed and are in the installation phase occasionally have a slight odor.
It is known that the Lang Viet Nam High-Tech Pig Farm in Hong Son Commune and Lang Viet Nam 1 Reserve Pig Farm in Ham Duc Commune, Ham Thuan Bac District of Lang Viet Nam Company Limited have a total area of over 56 hectares, with a scale of 5,000 sows and 60,000 pigs. In the past, these pig farms of Lang Viet Nam Company Limited often emitted foul odors, affecting the lives of many people in Ham Duc and Hong Son Communes.
