Machinery focused on overcoming landslides in Chi Thanh railway tunnel.

According to Mr. Le Quang Vinh, Director of Phu Khanh Railway Exploitation Branch, the unit is mobilizing dozens of workers and excavators to continue to fix the landslide in Chi Thanh railway tunnel. However, the geology here is very complicated, the soil is loose and not cohesive.

"If it rains again this evening, there is a possibility of further landslides. Therefore, the time for the railway to be reopened here is not yet determined," said Mr. Vinh.

Railway units have prepared a plan to transfer passengers from La Hai station to Tuy Hoa station and vice versa. It is expected that after 4:00 p.m. this afternoon, there will be 2 trains running through Chi Thanh tunnel but there may be interruptions.

Troubleshooting work is currently underway.

As reported, at around 10:15 a.m. the same day (May 21), a quantity of rock and soil in the Chi Thanh railway tunnel suddenly fell down while the construction train was reinforcing the tunnel, the estimated volume of rock and soil that collapsed was about 30m3.
