Two Chinese ships drifted to Yen Bai

Vietnam Inland Waterways Administration said that today (September 9), according to information from Lao Cai Department of Transport, there are two suction ships (transport ships of about 100 tons) drifting from China to Coc Leu bridge but have not affected the bridge.

However, the drifting ships will affect the structure of road and railway bridges. Meanwhile, the Vietnam Inland Waterways Administration as well as related localities do not have enough capacity and equipment to handle these two ships. Therefore, this agency proposed that the Ministry of Transport report to the Prime Minister to direct the Ministry of National Defense to take the lead in handling the situation.

Speaking with Giao thong Newspaper, a representative of the Vietnam Inland Waterways Administration said that because this is a large ship, there are not enough means to tow or anchor the ship in the current high and fast-flowing flood conditions.

Tonight, these two ships drifted to Yen Bai province. Currently, the authorities are still closely following to ensure safety, pending handling.
