Vung Ang Port Customs Branch (Ky Anh Town - Ha Tinh) is making efforts to collect an additional VND900 billion to "reach the target" of VND8,600 billion in import-export tax in 2023.

For more than a week now, the Hao Qiang 57 ship (from the Marshall Islands in the Pacific Ocean) has docked at Vung Ang port to import potash to China. With the support and maximum facilitation of the authorities, 20,000 tons of potash were loaded smoothly to quickly leave the port, thereby contributing additional revenue to the Vung Ang Port Customs Branch in the final stage of "finishing" the 2023 budget collection.

Mr. Nguyen Ba Chien - Deputy Head of Vung Ang Port Customs Branch said: “Since the beginning of the year, the unit has been assigned a budget collection target of 10,408 billion VND. However, in the context of mounting difficulties, the unit has been adjusted to assign a budget collection target for the whole year of 2023 of 8,600 billion VND. Up to this point, the budget collection branch has reached nearly 7,700 billion VND. Thus, within the next week, the unit will have to collect about 900 billion VND. The task is extremely heavy, so we are trying to focus on the budget collection task.”

At this time, regardless of day or night, the Vung Ang Port Customs Branch assigns staff to be on duty 24/7 to carry out customs clearance procedures for import and export enterprises. Accordingly, the unit is focusing on supporting large enterprises such as: Hung Nghiep Formosa Ha Tinh Iron and Steel Company Limited, Ha Tinh Oil and Gas Power Company... to import raw materials for production.

It is expected that next week, Formosa Ha Tinh Steel Corporation will continue to import 6 batches of coal and 4 batches of iron ore to serve the production of the first order in 2024. These batches are expected to bring in large revenue, helping the Customs Branch of Vung Ang port to "reach the finish line" assigned.

All problems related to declarations and lists of imported goods are handled by the 24/7 online support team of the Vung Ang Port Customs Branch on an hourly and daily basis. With maximum support, timely provision of documents and guidance for businesses to declare, the Vung Ang Port Customs Branch is creating the most favorable conditions for goods to be cleared quickly, promptly "carrying" additional budget revenue in the last days of the year.

Mr. Pham Viet Tiep - Captain of the Son Duong Port Customs Operations Team said: "The task is extremely heavy, so we encourage each other to strive and make efforts every day, every hour; with the highest determination to complete the assigned targets. In addition to traditional enterprises that have opened declarations for a long time, the branch also strives to attract more enterprises to open declarations to increase budget revenue in 2023".

According to statistics, in 2023, Vung Ang Port Customs Branch had 63 enterprises participating in customs procedures (an increase of 10.5% compared to 2022), of which, the large proportion of declarations and import-export turnover were mainly foreign-invested enterprises. During the year, the unit opened 4,533 declarations (an increase of 12.3% over the same period in 2022) with a total import-export turnover of 5,476 million USD (an increase of 18.9% over the same period in 2022).
