“Today, Russia confidently implements the large-scale goals of its national maritime policy and persistently builds up its naval power. This year alone, the Russian Navy will receive 30 new ships,” Putin said at Russia’s annual Navy Day celebrations in St Petersburg, after presiding over a parade of warships on the Neva River.

Russia traditionally marks Navy Day by holding parades on the Neva River in St Petersburg and the port of Kronstadt. This year, the Russian Navy Day parade featured 45 surface ships and submarines. About 3,000 servicemen also took part in the parade on shore.
